Kaipoura

Headed up the East Coast, north of Christchurch (in rush hour, for crissakes!!), stayed in a "funky" (according to the campervan book) place with railroad cars.

Then further north, heading to Nelson.

On the way we passed Kaipoura, which is known for the sperm whales you can see off the coast sometimes. We didn't see whales, but we did see this hopeful guy who let us take his picture and didn't fly away. Probably hoping for a handout.

It was good to get out of the van and take a break.
